Drug Testing
Analysis of biological samples (urine, blood, hair, saliva) to detect drug use. Standard cannabis drug tests detect THC metabolites (11-COOH-THC), not CBD.
In Depth
Standard urine drug tests (immunoassay) detect 11-COOH-THC, the primary THC metabolite, at a cutoff of 50ng/mL. Detection windows vary by use frequency: occasional users (1–3 days), regular users (5–7 days), heavy daily users (up to 30 days). CBD itself does not cause positive drug tests, but CBD products may contain trace THC that accumulates with regular use. Hair testing detects cannabis use for up to 90 days. Oral fluid (saliva) testing detects recent use (1–3 days) and is increasingly used for roadside testing.
